SHAFFER ALL RIGHTS RESERVED WORLDWIDE PRINTED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FIRST PRINTING; ELECTRONIC AND PRINT MEDIA Yes, there are pages of life written on the heart. As youth, these visions of life beckon. Yet there are only, really precious moments of life left for each and every one of us. And observations are collected in a book of mysticism from mythical Kale. On those plains so long ago, we watched a falling star on the horizon. Let us share what remains...

Canto 1 "Falling Star" June 3, 2005
On the green plains So very long ago We stood and watched The falling star
Splintering light As it raced to Horizon moonlit A moment frozen
Forever in our minds Our spirits entwined As a gentle wind Shadowed the event
Quietly, gently We held hands Waiting for what May never come
Again the moon Again the stars Again the falling Again this time
But you can Never go home Only the remains Of a memory
A vapor of time A fragment of Creation in that Falling star "The Storm Comes" July 24, 2005
Darkening clouds gather Gentle winds grow Into angry dust swirls Dust devils dance
Upon the ground As large raindrops Splatter, making Pelting sounds
As thunder vibrates Everything around And dark shapes Scurry about
Faster and faster The storm comes From depths of Utter despair
To heavens of Intense delight The standing clouds Grow black and
More angry The shapes Melting into Sheets of rain
Dark and forbidding Not knowing where The storm begins And our life ends "Yon Horizon" July 28, 2005
A simple thought A basic desire The ultimate longing I want to go home
A place seemingly lost Forever on yon horizon As a fading sunset Lives in constant motion
But home on the mind A hunger tugging at The relentless heart beat The living rushing oblivion
I want to go home If only I could But you can never Go back from whence
You came long ago A child and loved Those times lost O, to go home
At last, going home Upon a raft of dreams Suffusing light throughout Home in the wavering distance
As heat shimmers Rush off in the Far distance but Home so close
"Something Quite Amazing and Rare" September 29, 2005
Island breezes Salt in the air Sun setting With the moon
Rising over My shoulder Something quite Amazing and rare
Palms swaying Tuned to music A beat, a life Heartbeat to beat
The thrum Of life so Rare and amazing All in a breeze
Night on the Gentle waves Up onto white Sandy beach
All warm And delicious Something quite Amazing and rare
As unique As you and me Coming together as We live and breathe "Just A Wide Open Blue" September 30, 2005
And the music Brings chills to My body and soul While hot tears
Well up in A desire once Gone and lost Seemingly hopeless
A rising fever Thumping heart As low sadness More than a tune
Utterly lost In the light The darkness Behind the eye
Then a blink And the next Infinity unfolds Chills creeping
Ever outward Ripples in the Water reflecting The skyless blue
Lost and alone Never a home To escape to Just a wide open blue "Free" October 18, 2005
Free, free Roaming plains Sky blue above Mountains beyond
On horizon Stands the memory Free from bonds Let loose
Across wide River calm Air still And heart
Pounding free Home over Next ridge Grass waving
In the breeze Warm and free A journey Just there
Out of reach Tears free From depths But a memory
And now On plains Free and majestic Home at last "Sensation" March 2, 2006
Sensations run rampant Inhibition gone awry As a moment cries For a time distant
And but a memory When all seemed Right with life Yet now is now
Life must be lived Regardless of feelings Emotions wild Sensations overwhelming
Bodies enmeshed Tangled but free But a moment And everything gone
Then the night Wraps around us As the close air Settles like dust
And the memories Return of hate And love, all One and the same
Life is but The next Wild and wooly Sensation “Sleep with Me” June 7, 2006
Will you sleep with me When the willow dies And is upon the wind Gentle heartache and kindness
Borne of a desire Long ago in the ages Dark and dire Swords drawn
And all but sleep Is what one desires Till meet again Love’s lost flame
Will you sleep When the willow Comes back one Bright moon
And fire of sun Breaches horizon Blue and darkens Skies canopy of stars
One long kiss Memory serves As heat of day Warms chilled heart
And lights the Dimness of Bloodshot eyes Will you sleep then "A Glass Darkly" October 30, 2006
Rain softly fell Muting sounds In a song dark Hiding the blood
Eyes unmoving Yet intent and alive Gut wrenching Stilted thought
Windows iced In rainwater cold Pictured a soul Captive and still
Were there but Sight along That turmoil From brain to eye
Through a glass Darkly but yet To understand A path bloody
Revealed to one only One who fathomed Rain gentle upon That field afar
The rain stopped Soundless but loud Silence but a song Hiding the blood "Never" November 30, 2006
These are the days That will never end Each memory A pearl of sun
Never come the night And dawning the day Never speak Never fly
Only a life begotten Not dragon tried Not dragon tested Forlorn and forgotten
These are the years That will never rest Each moment But a prism
Of our regret Of our guile Of our love Lost but a while
When we were Young and yearning This is the time To return home
These are our lives That will never last Yet we’ve tried And passed the tests
