I don't like the noise. I am catnapping and all the sudden kaboom. Hisss...>^..^< Abby: I like being inside most times, except when Ebony catch something interesting to play with. So when the strange and awful noises start I run, run and hide, hide. But Ebony is too sensitive. She should be more forgiving of fire crackers and stuffers like that there.>^..^< Ebony: Meow, that Abby goes on a lot about nothing. I have important stuffers to meow about. Like why every month Abby and I have to split a tube of cat flea stuffers? I never have fleas. Why?>^..^< Abby: I agree that them flea stuffers is yucky, but fleas be yuckier. Don't worry, Ebony, I make you forget flea stuffers. I paw at you and get you to hiss yourself horse. I love getting you so mad that you growl loudly.>^..^< Ebony: Well, I really hisspitted loudly when some cars, vans, and trucks try to run over us while we were outside hunting. Them human beans nose we can't get out of the way. Why we tied up to nasty pet line. Why?>^..^< Abby: Meow, because you always try to run away when you loose. Then you cry when you realize use is lost. Now I always stay close to the fifth wheel travel trailer while I is loose. I am so much better kitty cat than you.>^..^< Ebony: O, you is a liar cat. When the heat and humidity is so high, you can't last fifteen minutes outside. While I can last at least twenty minutes. That makes me a super duper kitty cat extraordinaire special feline.>^..^< Abby: I don't know what we do if the air conditioner not working inside? I can't stand all that heat and humidity for very long outside. And then if you chase a fat lizard for a short spell, you all tired out all rest of the day.>^..^< Ebony: Use not work up too much energy ifing you chase stuff in the tub. It cool in there. But you, Abby, you evil fing, just like to chase me all over the trailer. At least I is a good cat and scratch on my old wood block left to me by Kitty. Use just claw the carpet or anything you like. I seed the human bean chasing you and hollering.>^..^< Abby: Yes, but I seed how silly you get when you inside our play box full of catnip. Why that box shiver, shake, rattle, and roll. You really get very silly, when you have catnip. Well, I do too, but that not matter much.>^..^< Ebony: I don't bother human bean with constant meowing like you. You not even nose what you meowing about. Even I is tired of your nonstop meowing. What the catnip are you meowing about all the time anywho?>^..^< Abby: I am meowing about how you sleep with the human bean near his chest, while I sleep at his feet. I meow about how you always getting tangled up with your lead outside. I meow about how I love Karen bean's long nails scritching me all over. Purr. I meow how all day raining is not nice at all. That all I meow about this month.>^..^<
Internet Stuff The DVD films from http://www.NetFlix.com are packed with extras and full of good entertainment. The science fiction movie Solaris was visually stunning with an interesting plot about a second chance at love. Just Married was a funny film about a honeymoon gone terribly wrong. The film Legally Blonde shows how perseverance of character over life can really work. Traffic was about drugs concerning all sides of the issue. Practical Magic was about witch love. There has been a long time since a traditional musical film. Chicago was well done and entertaining. One Hour Photo featured Robin Williams in a serious acting role, and was a very good movie. Several websites were useful this month. Interesting stuff can be found at http://www.tribalectic.com. Of course, http://www.amazon.com always features about any kind of book that you might want. At http://www.clerk-of-the-court.com/ you will find the Monroe County Clerk of the Court website. Click on the link taking you to the search for civil court cases. Enter Frank Mauro with a date range inclusive of April 11, 2003. The Gulfstream Trailer Park Homeowners Association [GTPHA] lawsuit against Gulfstream Trailer Park and Marina is listed with all actions thus far. In this list is the next court hearing date at the Marathon Courthouse. That date is September 29, 2003, at 9 AM. Of course, this could change, but if you keep track of the lawsuit at this website, then you will know. In The Keys For all our neighbors and friends in GTPHA, there are differing points of view, some disagreements, and even a little nastiness. In the end though, we are all neighbors and friends. Somewhere, somehow, these smallish attempts at pettiness has to come to an end. I, for one, am sorry if I had a hand in any of this tit for tat. The Dick Danielsen Group and his merry band of investors are either going to do the right thing, or are not. Time will tell. There are adventures with boats, and the constant aggravation they bring. I finally got the rebuilt motor for the boat all worked out. What a difference a good motor makes. I went out on the boat and enjoyed boating once again. Then I had carefully scrimped up the money to get the bottom painted at Keys Boat Works. I got a call about some cracks in the hull. The estimate was way more than I make a month and what is left over for the boat. I figured I had another summer missed on the water. Keys Boat Works was fantastic about the whole thing. They repaired the hull and did a great job. I just owed them quite a bit of hostage money. Then I got a small loan. I went snorkeling to John Sawyer Bank and Rachel Bank several times, once even in the pouring rain with a little lightning mixed in. I didn't stay long when the lightning flashed and the thundered rolled. I went back home. TIB Bank of the Keys is a great bank with free services, but they now charge $12 per month for their "free" merchant accounts. So I cancelled that account. I helped write the initial draft of the RV and Mobile Home Park Moratorium Ordinance based on the original rough draft from Fran Purnal. Jeff Pinkus has the current draft which is going through many iterations now. I love my poker friends. Thanks for being there for me and each other. Regardless what happens our friendship endures. Stormy weather with rain all day is so unusual here in the Keys, but I don't find it refreshing. Sandler at Greater Marathon Bay, LLC, is being very nasty to its residents at Gulfstream on purpose. The residents need to ignore all that nonsense and never give up. I am not a morning person and did not appreciate getting up at 5:45 AM to open the bridge hut at Boot Key Bridge, but, hey, anyone can lose their keys. The annual summer point party went very well and almost all 35 residents showed up. Miscellany: Did you know that Alabama's state bird is the yellowhammer? The flower is the camellia. The tree is the southern longleaf pine. The capital is Montgomery. Statehood was granted December 14, 1819. Lastly, the Hands On features art-to-wear jewelry, craft gifts, and accessories. This Key West shop is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6 PM. They are located at 1206 Duval Street. Their telephone number is 305-296-7399. Email address is handsonkw@aol.com, and the website is http://www.handsongallery.com. That's it this month! Poetry Corner “Never an Ending” 08.29.03 by L. E. Shaffer © 2003 L. E. Shaffer What do we do When the mountains Are no more And the stars fall
There is never an ending On and on goes The one fallen Upon dark realm
Wish for death But there be No peace in it Never an end
Never a peace Must go on To the next And forever
What do we do When the mountains Lead to the twins Only the dread remains
The journey once begun To never end Onto infinity Around twin stars
Black and cold Older than creation Full of eyes Beginning and no end © 2003 L. E. Shaffer Hockey Puck Finally, the NHL preseason is only days away. Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are both holding their positions near the top of the Winston Cup points standings. The Little League World Championship featured Japan and Florida with the kids from Japan winning. Tiger at the NEC tournament finished fourth and is second in the money list not far behind first place. The Miami Dolphins managed to beat the Falcons and the Saints this preseason. The Florida Marlins are in the hunt for a wild card playoff spot in the Major League Baseball playoffs coming up soon. The NBA will be starting again soon depending who is in court or jail as the case may be. The Williams sisters missed the most recent tennis match, because they are both injured. They will be back soon. Guest Articles We have various guests this journal. As always everything is copyright of the author. Royal Dragon Alliance Hi there - I play in a postal game (which can also be played by e-mail) called Quest run by www.kjcgames.com - and I am in Game 31 Naralia - where I run an alliance of players who worship dragon power. Our alliance is called the Royal Dragons Alliance. We are at war with an alliance of evil - called Anarchys Mantle, and a thieving alliance who would steal all our dragon gold if they could - called Cataclysm Alliance. We seek new players to join us in our quest, to protect and serve dragons, and to fight against the thieves and the evil of the land. For more information look at www.kjcgames.com site, and follow through to the game of Quest. Hope to hear form some of you Dragon Protectors out there... stevehomer_pbm@yahoo.com© 2003 Steve Homer Suggestions Jeff, if I may, I would like to suggest a few things.
1. Could our commercial TDR ordinance include an Islamorada type of retail formula that prevent big corporate developments and redevelopments like a super Wal-Mart? All the other restraints and controls seem reasonable to keep this from going out of control and impacting the long term. We also need to prevent any unintended displacement of any people, which should not happen if this is only for commercial concerns. Also, please tell me that TREs of any kind are NOT coming back. :-)
2. Now that Islamorada's 300-foot buffer zone for mini-season worked well, isn't it about time Marathon adopted a similar ordinance? Copying a good idea even if it originated in Islamorada is not a bad thing.
Thanks, Larry... © 2003 Larry Poem I wrote this when I was 15 or 16 I think: Procrastination is a crime Which only leads to sorrow. I can stop it anytime I think I will tomorrow. © 2003 Jammy The Mountains of Ao Book One Tears from Ao and three poetry collections, Pages of Life, Visions of Life, and Moments of Life are available electronically at http://RunesofAo.com/aobp/.
