How to Develop a Character Chart List? This page discusses how to make your characters more real. To do this, it is highly recommended that you develop a character chart on each major character at a minimum or all characters at a maximum. I just chart the major characters and let my database of novel terms/characters take care of the minor characters. Although this is just one way to make characters more real, I suggest you figure out some way to track your characters. Readers will spot inconsistencies if you aren't careful. This list is not in any logical order, and does not contain all the detail you may want to track on your characters. The first item would be to list the full name including the full middle name. Is the character known by some title like Doctor. Or is the character a junior or III? Age Height Weight Eye color Hair color Birth Date Birth Place Scars/handicaps Education Work Best friend(s) Marital status Enemies Parents Present problem Character traits Humor Ambitions Philosophy Favorite colors Pastimes Dress Hobbies Readers likes/dislikes Character remembered for You might use all these items, or only some, or add more. It is all up to your needs in writing your work. If you have something that you think should be added, deleted, or modified here, please email me. 28‘Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.29So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, right at the gates.30In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away all these things will have taken place.31Sky and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.32‘But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one but the Father. The New Jerusalem Bible: Reader’s Edition, (New York: Doubleday.) 1990. --- 13 Are any among you suffering? They should keep on praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for the next three and a half years! 18 Then he prayed for rain, and down it poured. The grass turned green, and the crops began to grow again. Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996. |
